SPAS
|
The most frequented spa, Harkány owes its fame to its 63-64°C waters containing biologically highly active sulfides. The waters and the mud are especially recommended to those suffering from rheumatic and kinetic ailments and for follow-up care of skin diseases. The facilities of the medicinal baths and the hospital are located in a 60-hectare park. "Taking the waters" is possible at the memorial well-bearing the name of Vilmos Zsigmondy, who led the exploratory borings in the second half of the 19th century, and the pump-room located in the area of the open-air swimming-pool. At Tamási, 38 km from lake Balaton, visitors can enjoy the
beneficial effects of the 35-38°C medicinal water. As a bathing cure, it
is used mainly to heal kinetic and gynecological diseases, and as a
drinking cure, to prevent caries.
Near the village of Buzsák, Csiszta-puszta with
its thermal baths can be reached from Balatonfenyves by the romantic
narrow-gauge railway in 15 minutes. At 42°C, the waters are recommended
for those suffering from kinetic, ginecological and skin diseases. Before
or after bathing, do not miss visiting Buzsák, famous for its folk art. The finest examples of the
needle- work using the special local appliqué technique are found on the
vestments and the altarcloths in the local church. Zalakaros is famous for its medicinal bath. Ten outdoor
swimming-pools and a medicinal centre await visitors to
Granite Medicinal Bath (Gránit Gyógyfürdő). A mini zoo and a horse
riding school offer entertainment and recreation in Behiákpuszta. Further
sport facilities, like tennis, fishing, hot-air balloons, hang-gliding and minigolf are also available in
Zalakaros. |
